Need shoes for the StumpJump 50k? The Rock/Creek shoe sale begins today!

Category: Backpacking, Chaco Sandals, Keen, Products & Reviews, SmartWool, Trail Running

September 28, 2011 By Jeff Bartlett

Starting today, and running through the RiverRocks Chattanooga outdoor festival, shop the Rock/Creek shoe sale for great deals on footwear, socks, and more from brands like Chaco, La Sportiva, Montrail, Five Ten, Salomon, KEEN, Asolo, SmartWool, Injinji and more.

Need a new pair of trail running shoes for the Rock/Creek StumpJump 50k (this weekend) or the Urban Nature 10k race taking place next weekend? Here are some of our picks, all on sale right now:

  • Salomon Speedcross 3 CS

The Speedcross 3 is a lightweight trail racing shoe, part of the Salomon Race Series, with a low profile and less of a heel-toe drop than other Salomon trail running shoes. Compared to the very-popular Speedcross 2, the Speedcross 3 is lighter, lower profile, and a bit wider.

The new ClimaShield (CS) waterproof version features a breathable membrane in the front of the shoe and tongue while retaining the standard liner, keeping your feet cooler than a standard waterproof “bootie.” Also available: the Salomon Speedcross 3 (non-CS).
  •

  • La Sportiva Electron

The La Sportiva Electron features La Sportiva’s “MorphoDynamic Technology,” a real breakthrough in off-road traction and not just a goofy marketing term. Instead of festooning the bottom of this shoe with lugs, the wave-like outsole is actually a layer of EVA cushioning wrapped in super-sticky rubber. If you want to read more, click here, but the short version is: this shoe actually absorbs the terrain, combining incredible traction and cushioning without sacrificing its light weight or low profile.

The La Sportiva Quantum is an ultralight racing version of this shoe.
  •

  • Montrail Rogue Racer

If you’ve seen (or run) any of the 2011 Rock/Creek Trail Series races, you’ve seen this shoe on the feet of our Race Team members. That’s no accident: the Montrail Rogue Racer is an ultralight racing flat, optimized for agility. This is a minimalist’s trail shoe, breathable and lightweight and as fast as you are.

This shoe is fast and responsive, a true performance trail runner and the lightest shoe on this list. Montrail’s “trail shield” and TPU shank protect your feet, with strategically-placed grooves to keep things flexible.
  •

  • Salomon XT Wings S-LAB 4

The Salomon XT Wings S-LAB 4 is the latest in a long line of top-end Salomon trail racing shoes; it’s a testament to the success of the S-LAB 3 that this color scheme doesn’t even look ridiculous anymore! This is the racing version of the venerable XT Wings shoe, meant for the longest and toughest trail races in the world.

This is THE shoe for all-terrain ultrarunning, performing well on a wide range of terrain with just the right amount of comfort and protection. Also availble in a Softground version for muddy, wet, sloppy conditions!

Of course, if you’re not a trail runner, we also feature hiking shoes, backpacking boots, sandals, climbing shoes and approach shoes, casual boots… basically every type of outdoor footwear, all on sale for a limited time.

Shop now before it’s too late! >
