Registration officially closed for the 10th annual Rock/Creek StumpJump 50k Trail Race

Category: Rock/Creek Trail Series, Running, StumpJump 50k, Trail Running

September 26, 2011 By Jeff Bartlett

On Friday afternoon, registration for the 2011 Rock/Creek StumpJump 50k was officially closed, and we’re now just 5 short days away from the event. At this time, the race is completely full, and no additional runners can be accommodated.

This is StumpJump’s 10th year, and it continues to be the largest race in the Rock/Creek Trail Series. How large? With 843 runners signed up to compete in this year’s race – 463 for the 50k and 380 for the 11-mile – 2011 easily represents our biggest field ever. This year’s limit was 800 total entrants between the two distance options; a combination of Rock/Creek Race Team members, other sponsored athletes, and volunteers account for the overage.

Tickets are still available for Diane Van Deren’s speaking engagement on Friday night, which follows the Vendor Fair. General admission is free, and the VIP reception is just $20. To sign up or learn more, visit https://www.rockcreek.com/diane-van-deren.rco now.

Spectators are welcome at the race, and a shuttle service will be available. Come cheer on your friends or family who are competing, or just take in this incredible event! Everyone is also encouraged to attend Friday’s vendor fair, which features chances to win a variety of prizes while learning about the latest outdoor apparel and equipment.

Race sponsors include Toyota of Cleveland & Capital Toyota, Get Out Chattanooga, PrimaLoft Insulation Technology, The North Face, Cortizone-10, Salomon, Marmot, Patagonia, La Sportiva, Mountain Hardwear, Columbia, SmartWool, Outdoor Research, Gold Bond, Deuter Packs, Greenlife Grocery, Hammer Nutrition, Archer Physical Therapy, Blue Smoke Coffee, Chaco, KEEN, Merrell, North Shore Yoga, Nuun, Skullcandy, Smith Optics, Southern Spring Water, Suunto, Trail Runner Magazine, & Vasque.

For the first time in 2011, the Rock/Creek StumpJump 50k will serve as the RRCA Tennessee State Ultra Championship. In addition, the StumpJump kicks off RiverRocks Chattanooga, a weeklong outdoor festival spanning over 90 hiking, paddling, climbing, bicycling and running events.

The weather forecast for this weekend looks perfect, so we hope you’ll join us – and 843 of our closest friends – for what Trail Runner Magazine has famously called “the east’s legendary meat grinder!”
