The Inaugural RiverRocks weekend is fast approaching, with events spanning water, land and air! Rock/Creek is proud to incorporate our StumpJump Vendor Fair and featured StumpJump Speaker, Jen Pharr Davis into RiverRocks’ Friday events.

Stop by Coolidge Park, behind the Outdoor Chattanooga building on Friday October 1, 2010 from 12:00pm- 5:00pm for a preview of the hottest gear in the outdoor market from our race sponsors. Come with your gear wish lists in mind and visit with Patagonia, Salomon, Vasque, The North Face, SmartWool, Deuter, Outdoor Research, La Sportiva, Columbia, SkullCandy, Keen, Mountain Hardwear, Toyota of Cleveland, and nonprofit friends- Cumberland Trail Conference, TN River Gorge Trust. [Open to Public].
StumpJump 50K and 11 miler runners may pick up their packets during the vendor fair and browse around until the 5:00pm start of the Carbo dinner for 50K participants. Additional Carbo dinner tickets will be available for purchase at the packet pick up table. Numbers are limited, so it is first come first serve for additional tickets.
Once racers are fed and happy, join Rock/Creek and the community of trail runners at 7:00pm for the featured StumpJump Speaker, Jen Pharr Davis.
Accomplishing 2,175 miles in 57 days, 8 hours and 35 minues, Jen is the record holder as the fastest woman on the Appalachian Trail Thru Hike. She holds three endurance records on three long-distance trails and has hiked more than 8,000 miles of trail in North America. Her talk is Open to the Public and starts at 7:00pm in the tent in Coolidge Park.

Friday October 1, 2010- Wacky Paddler Olympics
5:30pm at Ross’ Landing
Quite possibly, the silliest event Rock/Creek could be a part of in the roll out of RiverRocks events is the 1st annual Wacky Paddler Olympics.
On Friday October 1st starting at 5:30pm stroll across the Walnut Street bridge and down to Ross’ Landing Downtown to watch canoeists and kayakers joust, flip off platforms, and dive. If you fancy yourself to be a Knight or Countess in shining neoprene jousting for your lady or gentleman’s hand, then Outdoor Chattanooga’s Wacky Paddler Olympics are for you.

And where would we be without a little climbing in our life? Here’s a line up of the climbing events being conducted in and around Chattanooga through our two gyms. Tennessee Boulder Authority and Urban Rocks.

CLIMBING
October 1, 4pm-10pm Kid’s Climbing & Game Night; $4 for kids 12 and under. Shoe Rental included.
October 2, 6pm-8pm “Climber’s Buffet”; $1 per climb or $5 all you can climb (Sundown in St. Elmo)
October 6, 6pm-9pm Local’s Climbing Comp.; $15 per person. $5 from each entry will be donated to RiverRocks.

October 2, 10am-11:15am $5 Yoga for Every Body; $5 per person.
October 4, 9pm-10pm $5 Night Owl Yoga; $5 per person.
