Winter must be over, because Spring 2011 sportswear from The North Face is here!

Category: Products & Reviews, The North Face

March 3, 2011 By Jeff Bartlett

Birds are chirping, the tulip trees on my street are blooming happily and it’s too warm for the fleece jacket I put on this morning. It must be springtime! Well, okay, technically the first day of spring isn’t for another couple of weeks. Regardless, the sun is shining, and here at Rock/Creek we are bursting at the seams with fresh new men’s and women’s sportswear from The North Face!

For spring 2011, The North Face is putting the focus back on what matters most: the activities their products are designed for. With sportswear, that means high-performance apparel ideally suited to the special demands of hiking and backpacking, trekking and travel, rock climbing and bouldering, and bicycle commuting.

Along these lines, The North Face Men’s Hayes Flare woven shirt is an especially unique and innovative design. New for this season, the short-sleeved Hayes Flare is a super-comfortable polyester/cotton blend with 3M Scotchlite reflective yarn spliced directly into the pattern of the shirt, increasing visibility for urban bike commuters who ride at night. It also features a UPF 50+ rating for everyday protection from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. With this first-of-its-kind design, The North Face is proving that you don’t have to sacrifice practicality or versatility in order to be fashionable.

Need a durable, comfortable pair of shorts that transition from rock to campfire on a climbing trip? Look no further than The North Face Men’s Cliff Rock Short. A technical short made with a cotton stretch canvas and a gusseted crotch for mobility, these are perfect for climbing or travel. With heavyweight, triple-needle stitching throughout, these are bombproof and highly abrasion-resistant.

Women’s sportswear from The North Face gets the same attention this spring, with functional, quick-drying, breathable clothing that will go anywhere you do. Check out the Women’s Abby Temple Polo, for example. Soft and stylish, it has a feminine silhouette without skimping on functionality. Featuring a blend of recycled polyester and elastane, it’s rated at UPF 30 and features The North Face’s VaporWick moisture-management technology to keep you cool and dry when you’re on the move.

A breathable, quick-drying shirt demands pants that are up to the challenge, and The North Face has redesigned the top-selling Women’s Horizon Tempest Pant for spring. Lightweight and packable, these are UPF 50 with an improved nylon ripstop fabric. The leg roll-up feature converts the pant into an 18″ capri for crossing shallow creeks or splashing around in puddles after a spring rain, and between the zip-secured right pocket and internal passport pocket you can be sure you won’t lose anything important along the way.

The North Face also remains eco-conscious in regard to fabrics and materials. The Men’s Hayes Flare Woven Shirt and Men’s Cliff Rock Short both feature 100% recycled, post-industrial rubber buttons, made from old shoe soles, which are virtually indestructible. The Women’s Abby Temple Polo shirt utilizes recycled polyester fabric, and the ripstop nylon in the Women’s Horizon Tempest Pant is Bluesign-approved.

The North Face makes clothing and gear for athletes and explorers who live and breathe the outdoor lifestyle. Here at Rock/Creek, we’re just as enthusiastic about the outdoors as you are, and we believe our big, wonderful planet is for everyone to enjoy. We hope our products help you move out into the world in new ways… and we hope to see you out there this spring!
