Today, Rock/Creek announces the opening of race registration for the 2011 Rock/Creek Trail Series. All distances and dates are open to the public to register, minus the UpChuck 50k, due to application requirements which will be released at a later date.
Trail running has reached new heights in Chattanooga, making our city a destination location for the sport. Over the past ten years, almost 8,000 participants from around the country and across the big pond have covered a staggering 129,000 trail miles in the Chattanooga area. Since 2001, Rock/Creek Trail Series races have showcased Chattanooga’s natural beauty and incredible trail systems. The trail series has grown out of it’s inaugural races, the Rock/Creek River Gorge Race and the nationally recognized Rock/Creek StumpJump 50k. It now includes 15 distance options over the course of 10 race dates.
A variety of race courses, from 6k to 50 miles, will take you along breathtaking river gorge vistas, through awe inspiring rock gardens and beside beautiful mountain streams. Guaranteed to etch themselves into your memory for years to come.
Now the secret is out! Trail runners from afar and even the occasional road runner has discovered one of Chattanooga’s best kept secrets. They have seen what the wandering miles of trails have to offer to the sport of trail running. From the Cumberland Trail, the Mountain Beautiful Trail of Lookout Mountain, to the network of trails on Raccoon Mountain, and the miles of other trails in our great city.
Now its your turn. Join us for the 2011 Rock/Creek Trail Series and create your own adventure. Everyone needs a good story to tell and we guarantee you will walk away from our races with a few good stories of your own. This year hosts the 10th Anniversary celebration for the nationally recognized StumpJump 50k. Patagonia will provide all pre-registered racers a synthetic tee. Race proceeds benefit local non-profits dedicated to promoting the use, expansion and protection of trails in greater Chattanooga.
