The following is a guest blog by Adam Noll, AKA That Outdoor Guy (@thatoutdoorguy), of Outdoor Adventure Training. He’s going to be contributing some content to our blog over the coming months.
Adam is super passionate about helping people get outside, just like Rock/Creek, and his training programs are intended to provide the building blocks necessary to help folks be more informed, more confident, and more comfortable outdoors. Definitely worth checking out!

Memorial Day Weekend is the traditional start of summer here in the South, and this year is no exception. Hot dogs, apple pie, and Rock/Creek’s Annual Warehouse Sale are three traditions that are fixtures in our community. This year’s sale is set for Saturday, May 24th from 10 until 5, and Sunday, May 25th from noon until 4, at the Riverside Drive location.

Rock/Creek would like to take this opportunity to give back to the local community for the amazing customer loyalty that has made them a household name in the tri-state area. Nothing means more to a local, privately-owned business than providing great service, year after year, to those who’ve played such an important role in their growth–their customers.
This huge event features the year’s best prices, at up to 70% off on regular AND unique, factory-direct close-outs. It includes footwear, sportswear, outerwear, and more gear than you can imagine: backpacking, camping, and boating equipment.
Here are just a few of the world-class brands that will be available, first come, first served: Columbia, ExOfficio, Marmot, Patagonia, Prana, Salomon, The North Face, Yakima, Five Ten and many, many more.
Located at 1530 Riverside Drive, at the red light nearest The Boathouse Restaurant, the Rock/Creek Paddlesports Shop & Outlet might be a new adventure gear location for you, so why not head out to this great sale and check things out. In addition to the 29,000 sf warehouse and distribution center, there is also a 5,000 sf outlet that has great prices year-round.
Bring the family and make your own adventure. Look for the big 40′ x 40′ tent where the hottest deals will constantly be restocked, until they’re gone. Plan to upgrade your lunch, while you’re also updating your gear and apparel. No Memorial Day Weekend celebration would be complete without great food, so Rock/Creek is proud to announce that Rolling J’s Mobile Bistro, California Smothered Burrito, and King of Pops food trucks will on hand all day Saturday, or until they sell out!
I stopped by for a quick look around, and to get a better idea of what to expect to see on sale, and it was all I could do to keep my wallet in my back pocket and not go ahead and take advantage of the normal, crazy-low outlet pricing. Had I not known in advance that this was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what will be on sale at even better prices, I would’ve picked up two armfuls of outdoor adventure gear—something I can never get enough of!
As @ThatOutdoorGuy, I am proud to be partnering with Rock/Creek now. Keep an eye out for my blog submissions, and feel free to contact me with your thoughts and feedback. Great partnerships provide more opportunities for those they reach, and that is our sole goal in teaming up: to help you #GetOutdoors more often. Stay tuned!
