Think of fresh orange juice, crisp green beans, lush strawberries, and newly cut grass… it’s barely spring yet, but we’re already longing for summer! In this light, the spring collection from prAna is a versatile assortment of vibrant colors, dynamic fabrics and trendy styles. For 2011, Rock/Creek and rockcreek.com is greatly expanding our selection of prAna products; ever since these started arriving, we’ve had porch parties and iced tea on the mind!
For women, the prAna Elina Halter is your staple piece if there’s a breeze in the air but the humidity is high. This top has a smocked hem to keep the fabric flowing at the waist, and an internal shelf bra. The assorted ribbon and embroidery adornments at the neckline give this cotton voile halter a light, hippie feel that’s perfect for summertime.
The prAna Berkely Knicker is a great basic knicker for women. The blend of poplin cotton and spandex move freely and coordinate easily with the rest of your closet. The matching sash/belt is included, and can also be used as a headband. These are so lightweight and stretchy, you’ll be glad you left the jeans at home!
Summer is incomplete without a dress to beat the Southeastern heat. The prAna Quinn Dress (pictured at right in the Turquoise Paisley color), has a comfortable design and unique style. It hugs in like a halter dress, but features sliding racerback straps in the back panel to keep your dress up while dancing on the pier. Made from a quick-drying polyester/spandex fabric, the cut of the prAna Quinn Dress will conform to any woman’s curves for a flattering style.
Looking for a fun accessory to finish your outfit, or trying to protect yourself from the sun without smearing blobs of sunblock all over your face? The prAna Libby Sunhat is sure to be a summer classic. From the beach to the campfire, this sun hat is sure to catch everyone’s eye. Made from straw with crochet detailing and bead accents.
As for the guys, one of our favorites is the prAna Stretch Zion Short (pictured below), based on the classic prAna Stretch Zion pant. Originally developed for climbers, the Stretch Zion was quickly adopted by hikers and travelers who liked the lightweight, abrasion-resistant fabric. When they get dirty, brush the dirt off (or just beat them on the ground). Take a quick dip in a swimming hole, and they’ll be dry before you’re done hiking back to the car! These fit smoothly under a harness, but also transition effortlessly from the crag to the restaurant after a hard day of climbing.
When you get to that restaurant, they’re probably going to make you wear a shirt, so you’d might as well be wearing the prAna Diamond Back Shirt. Breezy and comfortable, this short-sleeved organic cotton shirt has a textured pattern that keeps it from sticking to your skin on hot, humid summer days.
prAna started out 17 years ago, making clothing that worked well for climbing and yoga. It turned out that their clothing worked well for lots of other passions, too. prAna makes mindfully-designed clothing that is built to last; the company name comes from an an ancient Sanskrit word for “breath, life and vitality of the spirit.”
New stuff is still arriving daily, so if you’d just like to browse our spring prAna inventory, keep an eye on this section of rockcreek.com… or come see us in one of our retail locations!
